Overboard (2000.01.31.)

I've recently figured out DHTML.  It's not as complicated as it originally looked.  Even with my WYSIWYG editor it looked hard initially.  My very first DHTML endeavor was for a layout of When You Dream.  I'd seen a site with heavy DHTML utilization called AvacadoLite and I wanted to attempt to be that good someday.  So the logical step was start learning the basics.

After figuring out the basics, I made a layout to use my newly founded knowledge.  I still can't do anything horribly complicated, but I can do easy stuff like in this layout of DiC.  So I did a new layout for WYD and posted on the Moon Circle forum about my update, asking for constructive criticism on my first DHTML endeavor.  Well, I got a little more than I asked for.

Almost immediately, I got a flame from someone I used to respect.  I won't mention from whom, because unlike her, I have tact.  She threw accusations at me, saying that I was a bitch, a "fucking skin-waste" and that I'd stolen the layout from Utena Network , which anyone with the IQ of a grapefruit would've noticed is different.  See, I have this theory ... and it's mine.  My theory is that all layouts, in their basic elements, are the same.  There's only so many ways you can set up frames and there's only so many places you can place images, text, etc.  What makes a layout original is the custom made graphics, the just-right placement, the personal touches.  I'm not Amer, so I can't design like Amer.  Thus, my site is different.

I couldn't say for sure if it's the same person, but within the next few days of the former post, I get a lovely little entry in my gbook for Yume.  You can still see it, it's entry #11.  The person, calling themself "i.am.your.master.bitch", said that I copied the source of the Utena Network.  Uhh ... whatever.  If this person wasn't TOTALLY brain-dead, he/she might've noticed that Amer types his raw, while all my sources credit my WYSIWYG editor for the generation of the HTML.  Hmmm ... that sure makes sense, i.am.your.master.bitch!  Somehow, I think it's the same girl.  But hey, you can say anything you want when you're not you ... that's the power of anonymous.

I think this girl is jumping overboard even before the ship starts sinking.  They say where there's smoke, there's fire.  Well there's no smoke, so stop looking for the damned fire.
