When it isn't Fun Anymore (1999.08.17.)

Some of you may or may not be aware that Dreaming in Colour is part of a group called the Moon Circle.  The Moon Circle is 15 Sailormoon websites that a girl named Usako-chan joined together.  We're really just a group of friends.  We have a little website devoted to our group and our own little forum that we frequent.  It's a fun little group and I really like the people involved.  My very first friends from the Sailormoon Community.

Yet a group of people decided that this wasn't okay.  I guess it's wrong to have fun with a Sailormoon web page because a group of people decided to flood and flame our forum.  We did nothing to provoke it.  The flames were littered with swears and sexually explicit content ... really nasty and truly showed the maturity of the flamers.  A lot of them also stated that the Moon Circle is a group of "wanna-be elitists."

Okay, lemme get this straight .... a bunch of girls with Sailormoon webpages want to be friends, exchange design tips and just have fun ... and suddenly we're wanna-be elitists?  That makes no sense to me at all.  I can't even think of something sarcastic and witty to say in reply to such stupidity.  Don't worry, it'll come to me...

It's like having a Sailormoon webpage is no longer the fun thing it was when we all got started.  When everything was new, we enjoyed so much learning about the Japanese series and manga, seeing a new piece of artwork, drawing fan art and labouring lovingly over our HTML creations trying to write the best way to express our love for this wonderful anime.  But now, it's all about design, design, design.  No longer is content such a big deal, but original layouts and graphics.

Let's get back to basics, people.  When Sailormoon was fun.
