The Latest Trend (1999.06.09.)

Trends go around fast in the Sailornet. Like when we all started our Sailormoon web pages and we all centred everything ... hehe ... remember that? ^_^ And remember those lovely corner layouts that were extremely popular last year and are still in frequent use?

Well the Sailornet has adopted a new fad that could be it's death. What is this latest trend? It seems that everyone is saying, "Frig Sailormoon!" and leaving their established web sites behind.

Just this week, Andie of Absolute Sailormoon fame informed her visitors that Absolute Sailormoon will no longer exist and is devoting her domain to her own personal page that will feature some Sailormoon, but won't be about Sailormoon. Ben Goodger's Millennium VII is updated rarely if ever. Once every blue moon you can say. And lastly, our beloved Pluto shrine keeper, Mara ( Pluto Planet Power! ), has all but said that she wants to devote her time to her latest joint project, the Utena Network.

It seems like all the big name web pages of the Sailornet are dropping out of the picture. They're losing the love and devotion they once had for the show that inspired them to create and maintain their various pages. I wonder what makes them different from the people who's pages have been up just as long or longer and yet they still maintain their pages with the care they had when they first posted the page.

I know that's why I made my page. Because I wanted to share my love of Sailormoon with everyone! And I still do. Now I lean more towards Naoko Takeuchi's version instead of DiC's but I still love Sailormoon! ^_^ I've explored other anime and manga, like Wedding Peach, Magic Knight Rayearth, and PQ Angels, but Sailormoon will always hold a special place in my anime heart.

I guess with all the big name pages leaving off for their new projects or for real life, this will give the up and coming new pages a chance to become big. Soon we'll have new big name pages, maybe even better one's that are currently up. But they won't be the same. The Sailornet will always miss Mara's love of Pluto and her wonderful insight into such an overlooked character; Ben's beautiful designs and always gracious help; Andie's quirky humour and fun way of approaching Sailormoon; and of course so many other people I've neglected to mention! <waves to the Kraiders ... cuz they like NEVER update!> We'll miss you guys!
